Service Description
I arrived in country on January 28th, 1969. I served in the 1st Squad, 1st Platoon until May 15th. I was a rifleman and pointman until April when I became squad leader of the 1st squad. On May 14th, I was wounded at Tam Ky. After about three weeks in the hospital, I returned to C Company. I spent the rest of my tour on LZ Center as an 81mm mortarman. Prior to serving in Nam, I had a tour of duty with the 3rd Squadron, 14th Armored Cavalry stationed in Bad Hersfeld, West Germany. The 14th Cav patrolled the border in the Fulda Gap between East and West Germany.

About Me
I live in the Chicago area where I am self-employed as an ESL teacher. Since Nam, I have travelled extensively. Some of the travel entailed work, but most was for the hell of it. After retiring, I plan to log a few more visas on my passport.

Tom has done a marvelous job in his book Tam Ky, The Battle for Nui Yon Hill. He has documented an event which was historical in the lives of The Charlie Tigers. He put a lot of time and research into this book. If you have not read it yet you should do so. Thank you Tom on behalf of your Brothers In Arms for making sure your comrades, dead and alive, will not be forgotten. Jim "Doc" McCloughan, South Haven, Mi.
