The Charlie Tigers

Songs Written In Memory of William Morse KIA 5/2/68

Below are two songs written  and performed by Jim Morse in memory of his brother William Morse who served in C 3/21.  These songs were submitted by Chuck Oehl, (C co. 3/21  11/67-11/68) on Jim’s behalf.  Below you will find the songs and a short story about them written by Chuck.

Headed to California

I made contact with Jim Morse after reading his post on the 196th Association website. I connected Jim with fellows from his brothers platoon with Charlie Co. William Morse was KIA 5/2/68 while 3/21 was operating north of the Cua Viet River with the 3rd Marines. William was among the men killed as we entered the village of Nhi Ha. Most of us never met family members of our fallen men and this encounter with Jim was so meaningful that Jim was invited to fly from NY this past Memorial day, 5/08, 40 years later, to be with men who knew his brother. These songs are the result of this encounter in California.
