Bill, Do you remember Doug Hatten? He was a M60 machine gunner in the second platoon. I was the platoon medic until after our battle in Tam Ky, then I became the company's head medic. You also said you have stayed in touch with Mike Snyder. I know he knew Sgt. Hatten and may know how I can get in touch with him.
When did you leave the unit in May '69? Were you with the company in Tam Ky? Tom Pozdol has done a great job in his book putting together what we experience May 13-15, 1969.
What platoon were you in? What was your nickname? Everyone called me Doc. Many of the real names of were not often used, so undoubtedly it has made it difficult finding people.
I would be happy to hear from you. My wife and I are retired teachers. I also coached football, wrestling, baseball, and American Legion baseball. I still officiate high school wrestling and am busy with the schedules of 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren ranging from 7 to 16 years of age.
If I do not hear from you I will give you a call. My home phone is 269 637-1172, my cell 269 767-0757. Hope this note finds you well. Jim "Doc" McCloughan, C 3/21 March 69 to Aug 69.; Then 91st Evacuation Hospital in Chu Lai as the Americal Division Liaison Aug 69 to March 70.
