Service Description
In Dec 66, I was in the first wave of replacements into the 196th after Operation Attleboro. After completing the Charger Academy, I was assigned to 2nd Plt, C 3/21. I was in the same squad as Doug Moses. Because my MOS was 11C, in Feb 67, just before Operation Junction City, I was transfered to 4th Plt and became SFC Gordon Dustin's RTO and assistant FDC under SGT Nick Nicolini. After the move to Chu Lai in Apr 67 I decided to try my hand at cooking....that lasted about 3 weeks. I was then assigned to 3rd Plt, Weapons Sqd and shared an M-60 with Jim Charles until Sep 66 when I was sent back to the 4th to train another wave of newbies on how to be Mortarmen before my departure in Dec 67.

About Me
When I returned to the US, I was assigned to 1/41 Inf (Mech) at Ft Hood, TX. At inprocessing I had an option to change MOS to Finance. I jumped on that and spent the next 20 years in Finance. I retired in 1988 as a MSG. I joined the Indiana Guard Reserve and served for 4 years as CSM of the 3 Bn 4th Bde, IGR.
I continued my federal service by taking a job at the Finance Center in Indy in 1992 and am currently employed by DA. I'm married to Carol and between us we have 3 kids and 10 grandkids. I am a past Director of the Harley Owners Group in Kokomo, IN. I am currently the President of the 196th LIB Assn
