Service Description
Enlisted RA on a recuiters advice of the good job I would get in the ARMY !! After basic at Ft.Bragg N.C. I got orders for advanced Infantry training at Ft.Jackson S.C. I tried to quit, but Uncle Sam said no way. My butt belonged to him! Went to RVN Feb. 68. Almost got a REMF job,but since I qualified Expert on the M60, I was sent to the bush.  Did the grunt thing for rest of tour.  We got in bad DoDo at the DMZ in may 68,I was WIA.  Out of bush for a few weeks, came back to find I had missed E5 because I was in the hospitial.  That pretty much gave me a major attitude with the CO. and the Army. Did rest of tour untill Feb 69, was MedEvaced to Japan.  Only had a week left of tour and was still in the bush, I was PO'ed with that to. After a month in Japan things turned out better as I was stationed at Ft.Meade MD.
I lived in Baltimore MD. at that time. I got the job of Company clerk, and lived off post. I was with the 6th Armored Calvary, 1st Army. We did the Riot Control for the Nov. 69 War Protest March on the D.C. Capitial. That was a GAS, on us! No ammo, that was a good thing, but most of us were just along for the ride. Finished with a 90 day early out, I posted some videos on YouTube about Vietnam and DC Riots as well as other topics.

About Me
I am over 60, downhill now. Retired SSDI, as well as VA. disability.
Have had 2 heart attacks, I have 8 stints in my heart so far. I now
just relaxe a lot. Got a new Travel Trailer to go camping/fishing. As soon as my wife retires, we plan on seeing the USA. But for now we stay within a few state radius, as Gas prices put a crimp
into it. I love to help my children out as much as I can. Love to fish, camp, and bike ride,(flat ground). Like watching SciFi movies,
not horror ones. Had a lot of jobs, used to quit quick as I had a bad attitude, found out it was PTSD. VA should had paid for back 35 years, but glad I got it now. A couple jobs I held for a few years. I did love the Goverment job, building M109A6 PALADIN 's.

Additional Information
My wife and I will have been married 39 years this Aug 1st 2009
We met as pen pals in 1967, in Basic. Found out she lived a few
counties away from me,but her Aunt lived accross the street from me, when I got back from RVN. She works for the school board. After 40 years of not talking about RVN, I do now as I found the Web site for 196th, and especially Earl's site for us. Check out my YouTube channel, JABrooksC321.  Anyone can call or mail me. I love to get photos of men of Charlie Tigers. Hope to see lots of
old friends and new ones at the reunion. Don't forget to support todays military! Thank a vet. Special thanks to Earl Powers & Neil

Dear Mr. Brooks....I am the daughter of Vince Rogalski. He is in some of your pictures and video on youtube. I have my dad's scrapbook from Vietnam with lots of pictures and other stuff he sent my mom home from the war. I am going to work on scanning it all in, but I would love to talk with you and see if you remember him. His nicknames were "Killer" and "Mom" I believe he was a Sgt....but he really didn't talk about the war much. Unfortunately my father died in 2006 from Cancers caused by AO exposure. My email is awise72072@gmail.com. Thanks!
